Memories of Wilmslow
Not noted for its historic character, Wilmslow presents some pleasing corners and attractive features. I couldn't resist the vardo (horse drawn caravan) that was used in a BBC nature series, probably one of the first to appear on television. The daughter of the late presenter made contact with me for a copy of the composition. That's me sat on the steps of the vardo! Of the people I met in Wilmslow, many I remember clearly; the couple who bought the original water-colour, the hospitality of an architect and his wife, a well known football manager who invited me in and told me his ideas on art, the BBC presenter who I had regularly listened to on the radio, the friendly couple who ran the Farmers Arms with its traditional interior and open fires etc. etc. So my choice of title 'Memories of....' actually became relevant to me, as the process of getting to know the town and selling the prints left me with many memories of the people I met.
